چکیده
RANULOMATOUS LESIONS have been found iii paraffin sections nlade from particles of bone marrow removed by aspiration from patients w’it-h tuberculosis, histoplasmosis, brucehlosis, sarcoidosis, infectious mononucleosis, malignant lymphomas or miscellaneous and indeterminate disorders.19 In a previous paper,4 I discussed the significance of granulomatous lesions foiits(l in sections made from bone marrow aspirated from 50 patients on whom such studies were made as an aid in diagnosis. The value of examinimig serial sections of all available particles of marrow’ was stressed. It is the purpose of this paper to discuss the significance of granulomatous lesions found in sections of bone marrow aspirated from an additional 100 patients on whom studies of marrow w’ere undertaken as an aid in establishing a diagnosis. The combined total of 150 cases w’ill be considered in the section on comment. and summary and in the final table. The sections preceding the comment. and summary will concern t-hensselves only with the presentgroup of 100 cases.

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) affects the joint beyond just the articular cartilage. Specifically, magnetic resonance imagingidentifiedbone marrow lesions (BML) in the subchondral bone have both clinical and pathophysiological significance.Compared to joint space narrowing on traditional radiographs, the presence of BMLs has been better correlated withseverity of clinical symptoms ...
متن کاملDiagnostic and therapeutic impact of whole body positron emission tomography using fluorine-18-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose in children with chronic granulomatous disease.
AIMS To compare whole body positron emission tomography (PET) using fluorine-18-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) with computed tomography (CT) in detecting active infective foci in children with chronic granulomatous disease. METHODS We performed 22 whole body FDG PET studies in seven children with X linked (n = 6) or autosomal recessive (n = 1) CGD. All had clinical signs of infection and/or w...
متن کاملUtility of F-18 FDG PET/CT for Detection of Bone Marrow Metastases in Prostate Cancer Patients Treated with Radium-223
A 76-year-old man with symptomatic bone metastases from castrationresistant prostate cancer underwent Radium-223-dichloride (Ra-223) therapy. Before Ra-223 therapy, he had normal peripheral blood cell counts. Ra-223 therapy relieved his shoulder and low back pain. The elevation of the serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA), doubling every month during Ra-223 therapy, suggested a PSA flare or rel...
